Here it is....

my new post. Funny thing is, I don't have any of my pictures with me to post. Soon to be posted, pictures of Dave and Mary.

Hmmm...school. I love school, it's fun and the days go by very quickly. It is very exhausting though. The kids soak up lots of energy. The biggest complaint I have is my voice is strained. It has hurt to sing and talk for extended periods of time for over a month now. I just don't have enough time to rest it. I am hoping I don't lose my voice, that's a BAD thing for a music teacher trying to teach her kids a holiday program. Jullius tells me not to talk (not sure if this is always for my health) and rest my voice. He even said he'd do the talking for me. Well, as those that know me, talking is who I am, and I am not sure if anyone would be able to talk enough for me not to want to fill in the gap of silence. :) That must be why you all love me, like Anne, "she could talk the hind legs off a mule." The really funny part, Matthew is like my Jullius, not so chatty :) Looks like I like the :) today.

Alright, alright, I'll blog already!

Yes sir it's me! No, I am not trapped, heat-stroked, or in other such perils. I am however, very invested in my Druid on WoW. I had to get her to lvl 68 so she could get flight form. So that has taken up much of my time and really messed up my sleeping patterns.

YAY!!!!! :) :) :) A boy, a beautiful Irish little boy. I could think of a better name and a happier thing. You look beautiful, I enjoyed the picture on Alicia's blog. I use her name since she uses it in her blog, let me know if you don't want me to.

Virtual LenaBoBena and virtual Dom are fun.

Ok, my big news time. To Dom, it won't be big or news ;) So, I got a real job. A full-time, big-kid music teaching job. Better yet, it is in hubby's hometown!! So watch out in-laws, we're taking over the ranch. Leaving a few acres for Dom.

So I have been irrationally afraid of calling people. Sorry ladies. I love you and am very happy for you and have proclaimed that I no longer have an aversion to the phone. So, let's dial away.

Damn, LenaBoBena, you're kicking my butt on the diet thing. I need some motivation to get going again. HELP!!! I want to be successful and small like you :)

Today I realized that I had forgotten the birthday of a very good friend. :( Not only that, it was a big birthday too. So, Happy Birthday friend, one month and five days late! I called her today when I remembered the bad thing I had done, she was very understanding :) There are more birthdays coming up this month so I need to be on my game a bit better, but hey, I did remember two July birthdays already.
I have been having fun following Domminir's links. I have many "disorders" and a few posts on the diet page. Keep 'em coming Dom.
I have been having dreams about the first day of school. I'd say about five of them now. Mostly, I screw up the day in some big way and then I wake up. Wow, it's going to be a long summer if I keep this up.
I hope everyone is having a good summer. What is everyone doing? I know one of you went to Colorado :) that's fun.
Oh, we are going to Chicago coming up at the end of the month for hubby's work. That will be fun and I get to see "Crazy Jen" Sorry Jen, hope you are not offended, my mom would say that when you left messages on the phone. "That crazy Jen called again." she would say with a smile. My mom and a smile is a good thing. Speaking of Jen, you need to post more!!

Slow, but very scary realization

So tonight I finally realized something. After figuring out our monthly income and realizing we don't have any extra money, I wondered where it went. Well, into the belly. Sadly we spend twice as much on food (mostly going out to eat) as we do on our monthly house payment. DAMN!! Now, please keep in mind, our house is very small and, for lack of a nicer word, cheap, but still. Better late than never, I have decided this needs to stop. I am working on a menu plan and shopping list for the week and hope to cut down drastically on eating out.
PLEASE, let me know some ideas for what to cook. If you would be comfortable sharing, give me an idea of a reasonable, healthy amount of money to spent per week on food for two people. Remember, one (not me so much) has a HUGE sweet tooth.

Remedial Baking?

Wow, people are reading this, that's fun. Honestly though, who thought I would actually be able to post on a regular basis, that would just ruin my track record for correspondence. ;) So to all the silent readers, hi hi and thanks for coming. A big "Hi there!" to Grandma :)

There is a seemingly simple act that I really struggle with, baking! Every time I begin I think to myself, "This time I am going to read the recipe really close and make sure I follow it exactly." However, this always seems to go wrong. Sometimes I add the wrong ingredient, put mostly it's the measuring part. Today I had to make Scotcheroos (minus the scotch) for hubby's department picnic. First of all, silly husband for trusting me to make a dessert other people (his boss) are going to eat. We'll call that, Mistake #1

I went to the store got all the ingredients, and yes I remembered all of them in one trip. I even bought organic rice crispies. Went home and got started. I knew you needed 1 cup sugar, 1 cup corn syrup, 1 cup peanut butter, a bag of melted chocolate chips, and here is where it all goes wrong, 6 cups crispies. Melted the sugar and syrup (didn't' even burn it, or the chocolate chips) added the peanut butter. Time for the crispies.... Now, I like to fancy myself as one foxy gal, so I thought, "The box says 8 and I only need 6, instead of measuring of 6, I will take out 2 and pour the rest in." A brilliant plan!! In they go. "Wow, these seem to be pretty dry, I am having a hard time coating all of these, let me stir some more. Damn, it's not going so well!!"
As it turns out the 8 was not 8 cups, but 8 one and a quarter cup servings. Taadaa!! Scotcheroos with 2 extra cups of crispies. Later I will post if hubby loses job for bringing horrid dessert.

So I guess I need to keep posting..teehee. The past two days I have been going through all of my grandma's pictures and putting them into photo albums. Wow, are there lots of pictures. It was fun to see all the old black and white ones. My grandma was, and still is very pretty. Hopefully someday my grandchildren will blog about the same thing ;)

Maiden Voyage of a Bad Speller

So here goes my first post. Not quite sure what I've gotten myself into, but whatever it is it shall be something to keep my mind occupied.
